The reason I ask this is because I know all of the illegal ones: switchblades (illegal in most states, except for a few), brass knuckles, butterfly knives, gravity knives, ballistic knives (very illegal). I like knives, however knives are a dangerous self defense weapon. If someone attacks you, and you use a knife on them, that knife will be used as evidence in court, and if that knife looks like a combat/tactical knife, it will look like you intended to use it for combat. Not only that, if you stab your attacker and fatally wound him, you would be charged with manslaughter. So the only thing you could do with a knife is slash and get away. There is pepper spray, push daggers, kubotans, tasers, SAP gloves and hats, and extendable police batons. Pepper spray is used by women, not guys, kubotans look silly and impractical, tasers can be expensive, and I doubt you can whip out a police baton fast enough if you needed it. So I need some ideas of practical self defense weapons, whether improvised or actual (I prefer actual, like weapons designed to be used for self defense, like kubotans, knives, etc). What are some good, effective self defense weapons that are legal?
It seems every self-defense weapon is now illegal from Sap gloves to brass knuckles, even some pepper sprays. Ok I was at this party with a bunch of friends we all were drinking and having fun, there was this guy there who was really violent. He went around hitting people and causing problems. Well he attacked my 1 friend by putting him in a chock hold and would not let go, I came up and did the same to him until he let go of my friend, then I pushed him away and told him not to touch any of my friends again. Now I am a really big guy and very strong, on average I can lift about 3X more then any of my friends. So anyways about an hour later I am out side on the back deck and the deck is about 15 feet off of the ground, with a waist high railing. The same guy comes up behind me I don't see him and he pushes me into the wall and just starts hitting me, I found out after he had brass knuckles on to. I get pissed off but I am kinda in a corner and cant really move, so I use all my strength and shoulder checked him away from me. The deck is only about 4 feet wide and he went flying over the railing and broke is neck, now the police were called and they did nothing to me cause it was self defense. But I feel really bad about it and all my friends wont talk to me now, even my best friends are scared of me. Was I wrong to defend myself? Am I a bad person?I did not mean to cause him any pain, I was just trying to get him off of me. Like I said im really strong and i did not even think about the fact we were on the deck. :(Within the little bit he was hitting me, he cracked my jaw, broke my nose, nocked out 4 teeth, and I had to get over 50 steches.Also he did not die, he is paralyzed from the neck down.
